Tactical Gift Giving

Need a few stocking stuffers for that tactical guy or gal this Christmas?  Maybe you just want to make sure your stocking has a few of the goodies you’re after.

In any case here are a few low profile stocking stuffers for you.  I personally like the idea of having all the tools I might need on me, but still blending into the background.

Tourniquets:  Controlling arterial bleeding is a must for survival.  Here are two of my favorites:
Small Compact and life saving
SWAT-T

There are reports of counterfeit units.  I'd suggest quality and price have a relationship and buy from reputable, established sellers

Multi Tools

Look, sometimes you need to tighten a phillips screw, grab a zipper pull with more than finger strength or open a can.  Other times you want to hand the tool to the person who knows which red wire to cut.  You can do that with Leatherman’s Juice S2 and quite a bit more.  It’s 2.27 inches long closed and retails for just over $52.

Fenix E12 130 Lumens Pocket-Sized Flashlight

There are times you want to illuminate aircraft at 1200 feet.  But the reality is most of us need a little light to confirm our surroundings, find an exit or make a dark corner bright enough to see into.  I prefer battery tools that use double and triple As because I can find them anywhere.  I can’t always find a charging station.  You can find it at the Fenix store for $35.

GPS Garmin - eTrex 10x GPS

A personal GPS?  What?  Do I think you’ll get lost going from your table to the bathroom?  No, but which parking lot did you park in?  And if you did bail out of the back door at that new club where did you agree to meet?  Face it.  It’s easy to get turned around in city or woods.  Under $90

Knife, Fixed Blade

Let me suggest a Mora fixed blade.  Look at the Clipper: high carbon steel blade, tough puncture resistant plastic sheath and under 12 bucks.  Why?  There are some things that work better with a fixed blade and at $12 you can afford to give it away or lose it if you have too.  Tape a ferro rod to it and now you’re cooking.

There are so many good looking folding pocket knives out there it’s silly to list one, but I am anyway.  Get a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian.  I like the round thumb hole, but women like the opening stud and axis lock, because it leaves their nails alone.  The new ones are all S30V steel with the lifetime guarantee and all for starting at $115.

Smart Wool
It’s hard to be prepared for changes in weather, especially in the northern half of the US.  One solution is non-itching, odor resistant wool called Smart Wool.  I wear their tee-shirts as a base layer and it gives me a wide working range of temperatures and weather conditions.  You can find a selection of options for your needs at https://www.smartwool.com/shop

Cleaning rod:  https://www.botach.com/rapid-rod-cleaning-rod/

Cleaning the barrel of a long gun to remove snow, mud or just ensuring it’s clear is priceless.  The Botack collapsible cleaning rod can be carried on your hip for $12.  I’ve used in the field and when I need it I needed it.

AR Bolt lock-up Cleaning Pads
Yeah, you can brush, pick, spray and rinse, but there is nothing like getting a form fitting patch that scrubs the bolt carrier lock up in the receiver.  Do yourself a favor and take a cleaning brush down to the big box do-it-yourself store and buy a couple large head brass screws to fit your rods and hold the patches in place.  $12.39 for 20 at Brownells.

AyeGear H13 Hoodie

Or you can leave the Yuppy stuff at home and fill the pockets tactically.  Available in black.
It’s plain, simple and has 13 pockets, many of which are hidden.  Look, you have stuff you need to carry and conceal.  This could be your answer.  $90.00
