IDPA is changing. The International Defensive Pistol Association has changed and not for the better. Accompanying this change is the requirement that current SOs test out on the new rule book. IDPA should be about shooting your best tactics and having fun. IDPA has tightened the rules in an effort to eliminate cheating and level the playing field. This has lost IDPA the sense of wonderment that came with a sport that let you try out your tactical skills and compare them to other shooters. The comment “Good tactics!” from an experienced IDPA shooter meant more than winning first place. Basics 5: Cup Stacking

I never heard of cup stacking until recently. Or if I did I’m sure it was a late night talk show stunt to fill air time. I never thought there would be a tactical lesson from stacking cups into pyramids, but there is. Give me 4.5 minutes and I’ll show tell you what it is. Okay. I find it incredible. The plastic cups seem to flow out of his hands like magic. I’m amazed. Austin wasn’t born that fast. When he started it took over 2 minutes to do what he now does in 5 seconds. Let’s talk about putting things in place so they are ready when we need them. I’m not talking about bug-out bags, stashed guns or even determining lines-of-sight in your house. I’m talking about smoke detectors. So many of us use a cut Christmas tree to celebrate Christmas. These trees were cut 3 months ago or longer and are so dry and are so filled with resin that they practically explode into a ball of fire with the touch of a spark. Even the live ones you cut at the tree farm are very flammable. So put in fresh batteries in your smoke detectors for Christmas. What would a tactical blog be without product placement? Mostly it would look like this one. But I have stumbled across a two things I thought were very cool. I don’t sell these, so you’re on your own if you want to buy them. I came across patches celebrating the 2 nd Amendment at EMDOM USA ( http://prostores2.carrierzone.com/servlet/emdomusa/Detail?no=116 ). You get three patches for 13.50. Each patch has Velcro on the back so The Second Amendment was never about just hunting! Practice what you preach. you can stick ‘em to your gear and remove them later. I couldn’t resist.
